Lea Tanner
Provisional Psychologist / Associate Play Therapist
Lea is a compassionate therapist with a commitment to working with children and their families in a holistic manner. She thoroughly assesses the relationship between thoughts, emotions, physiology, environment, and life experiences, recognising how these elements influence day-to-day well-being.
Lea has completed a Bachelor and Graduate Diploma in Psychological Science from Deakin University, a Masters of Professional Psychology at La Trobe University, and is currently completing her provisional psychologist internship. She is enthusiastic about deepening her expertise with additional studies in Child-Centered Play Therapy – an engaging therapy designed to assist children in integrating their thoughts, emotions, and experiences through play. In her spare time, she appreciates learning about mindfulness-based supports, how trauma impacts the brain and body, and neurodivergence.
Through paid and voluntary roles, Lea has coordinated various programs in both primary and high schools, providing support and mentorship to young individuals within her local community. Before working at CoRe Kids Therapy as a provisional psychologist, she was the Practice Co-ordinator and delivered LEGO®-Based Group Programs. Most recently, she was at Headspace as a mental health clinician. Her experiences have instilled that every child and family is unique. She believes it is essential to meet children and families where they are on their mental health journey.
