Jovana is a Provisional Psychologist and is currently undertaking a Child Centred Play Therapy Clinical Program.

Jovana completed a Bachelor of Arts (Behavioural Studies and Sociology) at Monash University in 2008, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Psychology in 2013. She went on to spend the next seven years working with children with various developmental and mental health challenges, providing emotional, social and school-based skill support. During this period Jovana also worked for Mind Australia as a Community Mental Health practitioner in a residential setting supporting dual-diagnosis adults through their individual recovery plans and goal setting.

In 2016 Jovana adopted a rescue dog named Chachka who has become a beloved companion. The pair completed an Animal Assisted Intervention and Therapy Dog Certification, and in 2017 started work with Canine Comprehension providing individual and group support to children in home and school settings. The programs focused on communication, social skills, mental health challenges, friendships and grief and loss. During this time Jovana also undertook her Psychology Honours at Monash University, completing the thesis component in 2018 which investigated the effects of animal-assisted mindfulness on symptoms of anxiety and depression in primary school aged children.

In 2019 Chachka joined Jovana on maternity leave and now the pair are glad to be working together again looking to enhance client outcomes. Jovana feels privileged to be given an opportunity to use evidence-based interventions to support children and their families. She is patient and persistent and believes in the importance of building safe, respectful and trusting therapeutic relationships to facilitate personal growth and address individual needs.
