Art and Social Connection Group

Does your child enjoy arts and crafts?

Our Arts and Social Connect Group is a welcoming space where children can connect with others, express themselves creatively, and build important social and emotional skills, whilst making arts and crafts.

A creative group for children to build friendships, and emotional skills through art and play!

What is our art social connection group?

Art social connection group is a play-based therapy designed for a small group of children. Arts and crafts are used to facilitate the group therapy, allowing for children to naturally learn and grow in a safe creative environment. Through this approach, children develop crucial communication skills, learn diverse ways to interact with others, and enhance their problem-solving abilities.

Art social connection group offers a structured component, which includes group collaboration, following instructions, turn-taking and creativity. The group also offers a non-directive free art/play component which allows for individuality, creativity, social communication and relaxation.

How does art social connection group support children?

  • Provides opportunities for social communication, allowing children to connect with others while engaging in creative activities. The group creates a safe and supportive space for expression, where children are encouraged to share ideas, thoughts, and emotions through art.
  • Supports and celebrates individuality and creativity, helping to build self-esteem. By valuing individual differences and encouraging creative freedom, children are supported to develop confidence and a positive sense of self.
  • Develop important social skills, including pro-social behaviours, turn-taking, give-and-take communication, self-awareness and awareness of others.
  • Provide opportunities for leadership, compromising, and building and maintaining relationships.

We focus on social connection, self-esteem, emotional expression, emotional regulation, and mindfulness. These are meaningful and impactful areas of focus, which children are supported to apply to their everyday lives.
