At CoRe Kids Therapy, we offer a School Readiness Program designed to help children adjust to the classroom setting and succeed academically.
There are several building blocks necessary for developing school readiness, including self-regulation, sensory processing, receptive and expressive language, articulation, executive functioning, emotional development/regulation, social skills, and planning and sequencing.
Our program aims to equip children with tools and strategies that build confidence, maximize opportunities and foster independence, providing the groundwork for positive school experiences.
About the Program
Our experienced educators and mental health clinicians facilitate the program, drawing on the therapeutic powers of play and employing evidence-based practices to assist children with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.
(The curriculum integrates intentional teaching and child-led approaches and experiences, all facilitated through play, such as art, craft, construction, movement, music, stories, role-play, games, mindfulness, and relaxation.)
Children will have opportunities for social play, practicing turn-taking, valuing and respecting each other through similarities and differences, and promoting kindness in communication. They will also learn to regulate their bodies and emotions, identify emotions and empathy, and practise strategies for self-care in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.
In addition, our program helps children identify who they are, celebrate successes, build confidence, and develop a positive mindset. Children will also develop relationships with peers, learn to work together as a team, and ultimately build confidence.
Finally, they will engage in activities that support cognitive function, regulation, spatial perception, and visual perception skills required to support handwriting.
